Guide for Authors

Author Guidelines

Dear authors when submitting your manuscript to the Egyptian Journal of Nutrition Please follow these guidelines:

Manuscripts preparation

Manuscripts must represent original work. All text should be typed double-spaced including the abstract, the references, as well as table and figure captions. The manuscript should be written in English (Authors from Arabic countries may provide an Arabic abstract).

The text should be divided into:

Title page

Abstract

Introduction

Materials and methods

Results and discussion

Conclusion

Acknowledgment (optional)

References.

The text is followed by figure captions, tables, figures. The electronic supplementary material may be uploaded as separate files.

Title Page: The title page should include the following information:-

  • Title of the article: Should be concise, specific and relevant, no more than 15 words
  • The name(s) of the author(s)
  • The affiliation(s) and address(es) of the author(s)
  • The e-mail address of the corresponding author

Abstract

Provide an abstract of 200 to 300 words. The abstract should not contain any undefined abbreviations or unspecified references. The Abstract should be informative and completely self-explanatory and should be a summary of the whole work with most important results and conclusion.

 Keywords: Please provide 4 to 6 keywords which can be used for indexing purposes

Introduction

The introduction should outline essential researches relevant to the current subject and state clearly the main objective of the research 

Materials and methods

The materials and methods section should provide sufficient details about the applied methods and techniques to allow replication of all parts of the study. Standard techniques and approaches do not need to be described in detail; use references to previously published methods and techniques instead.

Results and discussion

The results should be presented logically, highlighting critical information presented in tables and figures. The discussion should highlight the significance of the findings in relation to the issues and theories raised in the introduction and set the new data in the perspective of previous pertinent research.

Conclusion

The main contribution or outcome of the research may be briefly described in this section, along with an explanation of its significance and applicability.

Acknowledgment (optional)

Should state gratitude to funding foundations and institutions as well as persons who actually made efforts to help you in conducting the experiments or improving the manuscript 

Figures and Tables

All figures and tables should be cited and discussed in the article text.

All figures and tables should be cited in the main text as Figure 1, Table 1, etc.

 

 

Figure 1. Figures should be placed in the main text near to the first time they are cited.  A caption on a single line should be centered. 

Table 1. Tables should be placed in the main text near to the first time they are cited.

References

Please use the “Harvard Referencing Style”

References should not exceed 30 references and should be up to date 

The manuscript’ length should be limited to 5000 words 

N.B. Article Reviews and Case studies are also acceptable 

Cover Letter

A letter must accompany the manuscript, and it must contain the following elements in the order listed below: -

      • Manuscript title
      • Name of the corresponding author
      • Names of all other co-authors
      • Type of manuscript (research article, review article, short communication)
      • The names and contact information, including e-mail addresses, of three possible reviewers
      • A statement confirming the manuscript, or its contents in some other form, has not been published previously by any of the authors and/or is not under consideration for publication in another journal at the time of submission
